I felt challenged to crochet an mask mate ear saver. So here is the elegant mask mate ear saver, crocheted for a nurse, and it is 100% cotton. I didn't put plastic buttons on it and didn't sew it with any thread other than 100% cootton kind. Because I heard that some hospitals require their nurses wear nothing but cotton. Plus I heard that Covid-19 lives up to 72 hours on plastic surfaces.
Pattern is written using English terminology
Stitches and techniques used are single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), back post single crochet (bpsc), back loop only (blo)
For this project you will need a 100% cotton DK weight yarn, size 4.0 mm hook, big sewing needle, scissors. And if you need to use this with your hair tied pleae use a bigger hook
NOTE: end rounds always with invisible join.

Mask Mate Ear Saver
BAND COLOR A & COLOR B
With color A
Round 1: Ch 22; 2 hdc in second ch from hook; hdc in next
19 sts; 5 hdc in last chain; hdc in 19 sts across opposite side
of foundation chain; 3 hdc in starting st; join to top of first
hdc (48 hdc)
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in same st, sc in next 21 sts, 2sc in next 3
sts, sc in next 21 sts, 2 sc in next two sts; join to top of first
sc (54 sc)
COLOR B
Round 3: Ch 1, bpsc in first sc, ch 1, make 23 bpsc until the increase (2 sc in same st) that was made previously, make a bpsc in fist st of increase then ch 1, make bpsc in nect sc, (ch 1, bpsc) repeat 2 more times (only in increase stitches), bpsc until the end chaining 1 sc between increase stitches at the end and sl st to join.
Round 4: BLO sc around, inv join with a sl.

Foundation: magic ring (mr)
Round 1: make 6 sc in mr (6 sc), sl st to join.
Round 2: ch 1 up and sc in same st twice, inc each (12 sc) (this means crocheting 2 sc in each one of sc) (12 sc), sl st to join.
COLOR B
Round3: ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat 1 sc in next and 2 sc in next sequence until end, sl st to join (19 sc)
