I named this pattern as heliantus (in Latin)  because a sunflower had inspired me. I also wanted to show support for Ukraine with yarn colors. You can use any color you like, 

        This is the first of three parts of Grandiose Doily. I love mandalas and doilies. I always say that I do not have the patience to crochet lace items. Instead of lace, I love using light fingering embroidery threads such as 100% acryllic etamine. I love the neon colors that brands have. The best thing about mandala doilies is that I can stop at any round or add rounds as many as I want and it won't look uncomplete or odd.

When I first started crocheting, I used to look at the works of other fiber artists and admire them so much, I would imagine myself creating things like them. This doily is the first that I designed and crocheted. I was inspired by the simplicity and geometrical shapes of Anatolian motifs. I made this as a house warming gift to my mother. And she absolutely loves it because of the flowers it has. In this pattern, I first attached the motifs together as seen in the pictures and then crocheted a smaller motif (until round 5) for the empty spaces. You can work with the motif how ever you like. İt would turn out great as a round doily also.
